Cosmopack Once Again Kicks Off Bologna Fair

March 7th will be a day devoted exclusively to packaging, with the full Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna swinging into gear on the 8th.

Cosmopack Bologna 2013 carries the tagline “The Meeting Place for Design and Industry,” and when Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna, one of Italy’s largest trade fairs sets up shop March 7-11, Day 1 will once again belong exclusively to the packaging segment, as it begins its four-day run during the event. For the past couple of years, the fair had waivered from its first day packaging-only tradition, but the advance focus will now be back in full swing, with Cosmopack opening its doors the day before Cosmoprof, and closing on the 10th, one day earlier than the full-range beauty show. In total, Cosmopack/Cosmoprof will span five days. This decision on Cosmopack was made with the aim of allowing packaging companies to enjoy increased visibility and to benefit from the presence of professionals from the sector attending the event.

Cosmopack will represent the entire supply chain of the cosmetics industry, from raw materials to the latest innovations in packaging machinery. Packaging aficionados will be drawn to one large, newly designed hub with more than 300 packaging exhibitors in three pavilions—all on one level, and with more than 12,000 square meters of exhibition space.

According to show management group, SoGeCos, a BolognaFiere Group company, the 46th edition of Cosmopack celebrates Bologna as the international packaging capital. They say the creative content, the products being exhibited and the innovative formulas make this “show within the show” an extremely successful event, a meeting place for all the people working “in one of the most complex sectors of the international industry.”

Cosmopack’s ultimate goal, say organizers, is to offer a process, with the goal of everybody working together to find new materials, formulate new textures, design new production equipment and new packaging, including those who approach the goal from a graphic and design perspective.

On the morning of March 7th, the first day of Cosmopack 2013, a technical meeting organized by SoGeCos and UNIPRO will discuss the new European regulation on cosmetic products.

Part of a Leading Beauty Event

In 2013, Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna will celebrate its 46th birthday, which SoGeCos says “cements its role as a leading worldwide beauty event and meeting place for international operators in the sector.” Organizers say the event’s strength lies in its ability to bring together the entire beauty universe on one occasion, hosting members of the industry from all over the world.

All the sectors of the industry are represented in the six areas of the exhibition: perfumery and cosmetics, spa and beauty, natural products, hair, nails and packaging.

Last year’s edition recorded 175,703 attendees, including 40,000-plus international visitors during four days, and hosted exhibitors from Italy and overseas.

More than 2,300 exhibitors, whose numbers grew by 5% over the previous year, represented more than 70 countries.

New Layout, New Features

In 2013, visitors can expect a change to the show’s layout, which has been revised to reflect the new market trends and create an improved visiting experience by taking advantage of the fair’s two main entrances, Costituzione and Michelino. Organizers say the packaging, beauty and spa, nail and hair sectors will benefit from a new layout which will guarantee companies from the relevant areas “a dedicated visit, as well as offering visitors a more fluid, organic and focused experience.”

One of the major innovations for the 2013 edition of Cosmoprof is The New Talent, a contest devised to develop young talent by supporting creativity from Italy and overseas, with ideas for hair, makeup, nail style and clothing. This will be a showcase for global trends, offering visitors a 360° perspective on fashion.

Spot on Beauty is an initiative dedicated to companies that have not attended the exhibition before, giving them the opportunity to present their products to qualified international buyers. The area where the products are exhibited will be dedicated, intimate and elegant and will be located within the relevant sector/pavilion: Hair, Beauty and Perfumery.

The Premium Perfumery is a new area that will showcase high-end established brands and new products from around the world.

Organizers also report that there will be lots of evening events designed “to build a bridge between the fair and the city.”
